Suzana Peric -- Berlin Fashion Week Day 1

Next Up, New York for Belgrade’s Biggest Designer
Quick: Name a famous fashion designer from Belgrade. Stumped? I’ll give you a hint: She’s wild on multicolored silk maxi-dresses and easybreezybeautiful designs that seem to scream Palm Beach (or is it LA?). The answer is Suzana Peric. Don’t worry if you didn’t get it right, you’ll nail it next season. That’s because Peric expects to show at NY Fashion Week in February, 2009. And if her runway show last week on the opening day of Berlin Fashion Week is any indication, she won’t be unknown in the States for long.

Peric already enjoys name recognition and editorial respect across Europe, along with the requisite celeb following, natch. She splits her time between Belgrade and Salzburg right now; she has a popular boutique in the German city and plans to open a second, larger site in Belgrade in the fall.
Peric’s show was fun, festive, packed-to-capacity and also quite swagulous thanks to the lovely silk scarf she gifted everyone. It’s a swath tailor made to accent fall fashion, with a lovely Pucci-swirl combo of browns, creams and mustards. But many couldn’t wait to show it off -- the scarf could be seen throughout the week around at least one show-goer’s neck or handbag.
And to anyone who doubts that Belgrade’s Best is ready to take on the Big Apple, take note: Peric started and ended her Berlin show with the jazzed up theme song from Sex and the City.
